RadioOnFire.com - Rapper Jeffery Lamar Williams' days known as Young Thug are numbered. 300 Entertainment label boss Lyor Cohen announced that in the interest of rebranding, the Atlanta rapper will be assuming a moniker that makes reference to his given name, with his new self-titled mixtape.
“Young Thug is not going to be Young Thug anymore. His new name is gonna be, 'No My Name Is Jeffery," Lyor explained during an appearance on the Rap Radar podcast. "Please, respect us to actually segue and utilize his name going forward, okay? Because it's important," he continued, after explaining the significance of the change having to do with the evolution of the artist.
Thugger recently encouraged fans to be on the look out for the "Jeffery" project to drop on his birthday, [August 16]. On Sunday further signs pointing to an imminent release reared, as he tweeted out a handwritten tracklist, followed by a tweet reading "8-16."
