A Tribe Called Quest to Release a New Album With Phife Dawg

RadioOnFire.com - Legendary hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest will drop their first official album since 1998.
The news was announced by Epic Records exec L.A. Reid during the Rap Radar Podcast. “You know what I’m excited about, though? A Tribe Called Quest,” said Reid when asked about the label’s current projects. “We have A Tribe Called Quest album coming.” He also stated that the project will feature the recently deceased Phife Dawg.
“I’m really happy about it,” continued Reid. “It’s really something special. It’s one of the things I’m most excited about out of everything we’re working on. [Q-Tip and I have] a long relationship, but he’s a real friend. He’s made some incredible music and I love it. Phife is there, the whole group, Jarobi, everybody, the entire group. It’s great too. It’s coming very soon; it’ll be their first album in 18 years.” A Tribe Called Quest released three critically acclaimed albums in the early 1990s including “The Low End Theory” and the universally praised “Midnight Marauders.” Their last album “The Love Movement” was released in 1998. Q-Tip and Phife both pursued solo careers after their Tribe days but would reunite for shows and tours. They opened for Kanye West during his “Yeezus” tour. Phife died earlier this year due to complications with his kidneys.
