Chris Rock Delivers Great 2016 Oscars Monologue: "Jada Boycotting The Oscars Is Like Me Boycotting Rihanna's Panties, I Wasn't Invited"

RadioOnFire.com - Chris Rock was the host of the 88th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 27th. Right away he jumped into the #OscarsSoWhite controversy.
“Why are we protesting this Oscars? It’s the 88th Academy Awards, which means this ‘no black nominees’ thing happened at least 71 other times," he joked. "You've got to figure that it happened in the 50's, in the 60's. One of those years Sidney didn’t put out a movie. I’m sure there were no black nominees some of those years, say ‘62’ or ‘63. And black people did not protest. Why? Because we had real things to protest at the time. We were too busy being raped and lynched to care about who won best cinematographer. When your grandmother’s swinging from a tree, it’s really hard to care about best documentary foreign short.”

Rock was able to walk that fine line between pointing out facts about the Oscars history regarding black actors without being offensive.
Nobody was spared during the comedian's 10 minute monologue, regardless of race.
One of his funniest jokes took aim at Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
"What happened this year? People went mad," Rock said. "Spike [Lee] got mad, [Al] Sharpton got mad, Jada went mad and Will went mad. Everybody went mad. Jada said he's not coming. I'm like 'Isn't she in a TV show?' Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties, I wasn't invited. Ohhh, that's not an invitation I would turn down. I understand Jada's mad. Your man Will was not nominated for Concussion, I get it. You get mad saying, 'It's not fair that Will was this good and didn't get nominated.' You're right. It's also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild, Wild West."
Overall, he was quite effective and funny. Check out the monologue below.

Oscars Crown 'Spotlight' But Diversity Had The Limelight

In an underdog win for a movie about an underdog profession, the newspaper drama "Spotlight" took best picture Sunday at an Academy Awards riven by protest and outrage, and electrified by an unflinching Chris Rock.
Tom McCarthy's film about the Boston Globe's investigative reporting on sexual abuse by Roman Catholic priests won over the favored frontier epic "The Revenant." McCarthy's well-crafted procedural, led by a strong ensemble cast, had lagged in the lead-up to the Oscars, losing ground to the flashier filmmaking of Alejandro Inarritu's film.

Anderson Silva KO's Michael Bisping Yet Still Loses Decision In Bizarre, Bloody Bout At UFC Fight Night London

(USA Today/MMA Junkie) LONDON – Nearly knocked out on two occasions, leaking blood from several cuts on his face, Michael Bisping survived a vintage Anderson Silva to take home a unanimous decision.

Bisping (28-7 MMA, 18-7 UFC), the No. 8 ranked fighter in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA middleweight rankings, opened an early lead on Silva (33-7 MMA, 16-3 UFC) and cleared his head after a pair of devastating shots hurt him in later rounds.

The middleweight bout headlined today’s UFC Fight Night 84 card at The O2 in London. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
The final scorecards were unanimously 48-47 for Bisping, whose heated clash with Silva at the weigh-ins gave way to a post-fight bow with with the ex-middleweight champ.

“I wanted this fight my entire life,” he said afterward. “Because of you guys, you give me the power. I’m just a guy from a very normal background, and you guys have been in my corner every time. I don’t know what to say, I’m (expletive) crying.”
With his decision win, Bisping inched ahead of Silva as the winningest middleweight in UFC history, a stat more remarkable for the fact that he has never held or even fought for a UFC title, while Silva earlier in his career defended his belt a record-setting 10 times.

Bisping came close to fighting Silva on two occasions in while the Brazilian held the belt, but on both occasions came up short, losing a decision to Chael Sonnen in 2012 and getting knocked out by ex-champ Vitor Belfort one year later.
The outspoken Brit brought that history into the cage, while Silva hoped to earn his first win since October 2012 after a comeback fight and decision over Nick Diaz at UFC 183 led to positive drug tests and a no-contest. The second of a pair of losses to now ex-champ Chris Weidman led to a horrific leg break that sidelined him for more than a year. A suspension stemming from his positive tests left him inactive for most of 2015.
Throughout much of the fight, Silva appeared to be in vintage form as he beguiled Bisping with feints and fakes. The strategy backfired, however, when the Brit refused to remain stationary and fired off well-placed combinations. On the chase for a retort, Silva walked into a pair of counters at the end of the first and second rounds, the latter of which knocked him to the canvas.

Gladys Knight’s Chicken And Waffles Spot Fails Inspection After Receiving 15 Violations

RadioOnFire.com - Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles resturant has failed inspection after receiving a 56 out of 100. Yikes! The resturant is located on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. The inspectors of Fulton County found 15 other violations on this resturant. Im sorry Gladys. I will not be there anytime soon.

Inspectors found that the people handling food were not washing their hands properly. “heavy debris” was seen on the ceiling and vents and also there was a door missing from one of the coolers. Last April, the eatery got a 94 on their health inspection. What the hell happened between then and now, who knows. The singer has not yet commented on the inspection.

Obama To Nominate Enoch Pratt CEO As Librarian Of Congress

RadioOnFire.com - President Barack Obama didn't have to look far for the next librarian of Congress. In fact, he looked just up Interstate 95.
He announced Wednesday he would nominate Enoch Pratt Free Library CEO Carla Hayden to head the Library of Congress. Hayden is no stranger to the president--Obama noted that he and first lady Michelle knew her when she worked at the Chicago Public Library. She's been the head of Baltimore's system since 1993, and was nominated by Obama and confirmed by the Senate to join the National Museum and Library Services Board in 2010
"Dr. Hayden has devoted her career to modernizing libraries so that everyone can participate in today's digital culture," Obama said. "She has the proven experience, dedication, and deep knowledge of our nation’s libraries to serve our country well and that’s why I look forward to working with her in the months ahead. If confirmed, Dr. Hayden would be the first woman and the first African American to hold the position – both of which are long overdue.”

Poll: Clinton With Big Lead Over Sanders In Maryland; Senate Race Statistical Tie

RadioOnFire.com - Nearly two months before Maryland's Primary Election, a new poll finds Hillary Clinton with a commanding lead in the Democratic presidential race, and the Democratic race for U.S. Senate, a statistical tie.
The Goucher College poll of 307 likely Democratic primary voters finds Clinton receiving 58 percent of the vote, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders receiving 28 percent, 12 percent are undecided, and 2 percent either pick other candidates or refused to answer pollster's questions.
Goucher Poll director Professor Mileah Kromer told WBAL that Clinton is the strongest in states with a racially diverse electorate, and the numbers in Maryland reflects the former secretary of state's strong support among African Americans.
Kromer says Sanders has not made inroads with minority voters, and she notes a Democrat cannot win states like South Carolina, Georgia and Maryland without their support. South Carolina's Democratic primary is this Saturday.
The margin of error in the poll is plus-or-minus 5.6 percent.
The Democratic race for U.S. Senate to fill the seat now held by Sen. Barbara Mikulski is much closer, with Prince George's County Rep. Donna Edwards receiving 39 percent of the vote, and Montgomery County Rep. Chris Van Hollen receiving 37 percent.  Edwards' lead is well within the poll's margin of error.
Twenty-three percent of those polled were undecided, and 1 percent were undecided.
Both candidates are airing television commercials, though Edwards' ads come from a third-party group.
"Donna Edwards had done a very good job in keeping this race competitive,  and even has a slight edge on Van Hollen, but the problem is that she does not have the war chest that he does," Kromer told WBAL NewsRadio 1090.
"It does tell me this is anybody's race."
A Van Hollen spokeswoman sent this email to WBAL NewsRadio 1090 reacting to the poll.
"We know that Chris has the overwhelming support of Maryland's community leaders and a grassroots army standing with him. Unlike his opponent, Chris's support comes from Marylanders and not an out-of-state Super PAC -- and we are confident that on election day, Marylanders will not allow the election to be hijacked by outside money and special interests," said Bridgett Frey, spokeswoman for the Van Hollen campaign.
Eight other Democrats are on the ballot.
Maryland's primary election is on April 26.
