Beyoncé Brings Mothers of Trayvon Martin & Mike Brown to VMAs

RadioOnFire.com - Sunday night's [August 28] 2016 MTV Video Music Awards featured captivating performances, dazzling fashion, a tribute to one of the most beloved artists of the past decade, and a notable speech or two. The event would also invite a component of protest that served just as clear a statement as Kanye's words on poverty having to do with esteem, resources and role models being taken away, was; with the presence four mothers who lost their sons to the criminal justice system.
Sybrina Fulton is the mother of Trayvon Martin, Gwen Carr is Eric Garner's mother, and Lesley McSpadden and Wanda Johnson are Mike Brown and Oscar Grant's mothers, respectively.  Their names have resurfaced in the national news cycle numerous times over the past year, as they travelled along the campaign trail with Hillary Clinton to bring awareness to the failure of the justice system to weigh in favor of those who've been brutalized at the hands of police.  Their faces also become familiar through a cameo in one of Beyonce's LEMONADE video segments.
Fulton, Carr, McSpadden and Johnson were on hand at the VMA's where they were photographed on the red carpet and got to enjoy the show, courtesy of Beyonce.  LEMONADE led the awards with 11 nominations. Bey would go on to close the show with a five track performance of the project.
