NBA: Kobe Bryant on Recruiting Rajon Rondo: “I’m not stopping until he signs an extension”

RadioOnFire.com - Prior to Rajon Rondo being traded to the Dallas Mavericks, he had a very public breakfast with Los Angeles Lakers superstar, Kobe Bryant. There were reports that the Lakers wanted to trade for the star point guard but they lacked the assets necessary to get the job done. Rondo has been thriving with his new team and the Mavericks will certainly make it to the playoffs but he will still become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Many think he will re-sign with the Mavericks but Kobe Bryant is determined to continue recruiting Rajon Rondo and convincing the PG to join him.

Bryant took particular interest in the late-December trade of Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks. He and Rondo had breakfast together when the Lakers were in Boston early last month, and it was widely assumed that Bryant was doing a little early recruiting on the point guard who becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

While Mavericks owner Mark Cuban expressed confidence his club can and will sign Rondo to a new deal, Bryant told the Herald he’s not about to cease working on getting him to LA.

“No way,” Bryant said. “I’m not done. I’m not stopping until he signs an extension.”

Both Bryant and Rondo have admitted that they’re very like-minded and are both “assholes”. But with that aside, the Mavericks are contenders while the Lakers are rebuilding. It’ll take a lot of convincing and a lot of dollars to get Rondo to sign with the Lakers.
