Steph Curry to Stay with Warriors After Free Agency, Says Curveballs Happen

RadioOnFire.com - Stephen Curry will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2017, but it doesn't appear there will be a LeBron James type "decision" or the mania of Kevin Durant. The Golden State Warriors star plans to stay with the team that chose him as the No. 7 pick in the 2009 draft.
The two-time reigning MVP told The Wall Street Journal on Monday he feels at home with Golden State.
"It's hard to see myself anywhere else," he said but added that "curveballs happen all the time," which could change his future.
Players often voice their loyalties to their current team, but sometimes end up going somewhere else when free agency arrives.
Curry has been in a Warriors uniform since he entered the league and hasn't shown interest in any other team aside from the Charlotte Hornets, as he previously called North Carolina home. A move like that, however, will likely happen late in his career.
For now, Curry has reiterated that he wants to remain with the Warriors. The team won an NBA championship in the 2014-15 season and finished with a historic 73-9 record in the 2015-16 season. Though they fell short of winning another title, they added former MVP and scoring champion Kevin Durant to the roster. They're currently 16-2 to start the season, and seem poised for a Finals trilogy against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who sit atop the Eastern Conference at 13-3.
Curry could sign a max contract extension worth up to $165 million. It's a major step up from his previous four-year $44 million contract that was signed before he became a top player in the league.
