Lil Wayne Tried to Keep BLM Comment Off Air, Fired His Publicist

RadioOnFire.com - It may be some time before Lil Wayne hears the end of it about his stance on racism, as backlash has continued to mount over his disastrous ABC Nightline interview earlier this week. Wayne has since come forward to issue an apology towards anyone who was offended, but as video of his anti-Black Lives Matter remarks continue to circulate social media, serious questions have been raised as to whether the gaffe might have a lasting impact on his image. It is now being reported that Wayne's team might have anticipated that he'd receive a negative response, as sources close to the situation revealed to TMZ that he had attempted to have the BLM portion of the segment scratched before it's airing.
A clip from the Nightline interview that surfaced on Tuesday night [November 1] created an immediate uproar, with viewers having been taken aback by the nature of his comments. Not only did Wayne reject the notion that racism is still prevalent in society, and subsequently dismissed Black Lives Matter, he made a mockery of the movement's mantra, stating, "don't come at me with that dumb s**t ma'am. My life matters, especially to my b****es." Within 24 hours of him being scorched by the media and fans across the internet, Wayne apologized and explained that he had been thrown off by a question about his daughter that he found inappropriate, and had lost his focus as it would pertain to the remaining questions fielded to him by ABC's Linsey Davis.
According to TMZ, Wayne's people jumped into action after the interview, in an attempt to block them from televising the remarks, but they say their several attempts to make contact with ABC were unsuccessful. ABC would come to Davis' defense over Wayne's gripe that Davis' question on his daughter was not pre-approved, writing in a statement that "when it came to the questions and the topics of the interview nothing was off limits." It is reported that Wayne has allegedly fired his publicists as a result of the blowback.
