Carson, who is seeking the Republican nomination, made that statement during a campaign event Tuesday night in Baltimore.
"Democrats and Republicans have weaved such a complex web that it will be very difficult to untangle. But I'm not ready to quit trying to untangle it yet," Carson said.
Carson was at The Grand Hotel downtown for an election night party. There were between 150 and 200 supporters there, with some saying he delivered an inspirational message of hope. Carson mentioned Democrat Hillary Clinton, saying if she is elected she could get two to three Supreme Court picks.
Carson also talked about supporting the Republican nominee, whether he is the pick or not. But, it was Carson's statement on not giving up that made many of his supporters happy.
"It feels very refreshing and it gives us hope that there could be a new Republican party," Carson supporter Ahmed Elzakaky said. "I think his message speaks to all of America. It gives us hope and is very inspiring."
Carson supporter Bonnie Gisriel agrees.
"I was thrilled," she said. "I'd like to see everybody drop out except (Carson) and Donald Trump and I'd like to see the two of them in a debate."
Another Carson supporter, Kenny Kaye, said he is just glad Carson did not give up on Tuesday.
"I was very, very afraid that he was going to throw in the towel," Kaye said. "I think if he stays in it long enough, Ringling Bros is going to pick up our main character and we'll have the real guy run the country."
Carson said the Republican Party cannot become fractured or splintered and must rally behind whoever the nominee ends up being.
