RadioOnFire.com - Jerry Heller’s lawsuits against members of N.W.A. and the studio that produced “Straight Outta Compton” are still very much alive despite his recent death.
TMZ caught up with one of Heller’s lawyers who explained that they are still going to move forward with the cases. “Some of the things that were said about him in the movie literally broke his heart,” he said. “There are more than one causes action. One claim is defamation. That case is going to be somewhat altered because future damages can’t be demonstrated because he’s not there. The other parts of the cases are not really affected by his death at all.”
Heller has a lawsuit against Easy E’s widow Tomica Wright for violating a confidentiality agreement they signed years ago. He also has a case against the group and studio for lifting stories out of his book and altering them on the big screen without his permission. “The guy was the good guy and they made him out to be a horrible exploiter in the film,” the lawyer continued. “Those kind of things really hurt him. They made him a contemporary slave owner. No one cared about that group. Jerry Heller cared about that group. Not only did they bite the hand that fed them. Now they’re trying to make money in a movie by making him look like a slave owner.”
