RadioOnFire.com - A poster promoting an Anthony Hamilton performance that featured the phrase “All Lives Matter” was released yesterday and the singer took to Instagram to let his followers know he did not approve of it.
He further clarified that his views on police brutality and the black experience can be seen in an article he recently wrote. “Unfortunately there was a flyer put out with my name on it that I didn’t approve, an ‘all lives matter’ flyer. If you really want to know how I feel about our people and where we are via justice, there’s an article I wrote about two days ago. It’s posted. Go to the roots.com. And you can see exactly how I feel. I’m a father of six black males. So black lives do matter and I approve this message,” he said.
Hamilton was scheduled to be a part of a concert put together by Fantasia Barrino that also featured John P. Kee and Dennis Reed. The show was meant to be a peaceful protest that would help the unrest in Charlotte, North Carolina brought on by the killing of black man Keith Lamont Scott at the hands of police. The flyer for the show featured the phrase “all lives matter.” The show was later canceled after Charlotte authorities said it couldn’t be done due to the Panthers game being played in the same area.
