RadioOnFire.com - Some of the content shared on social media by a Baltimore elementary school teacher, has her facing disciplinary action after its vulgarity and racist subtext bothered viewers.
Several Instagram posts put up by a 5th-grade teacher, Kelly Forostiak, were obtained by media outlets after the Baltimore Sun reported on their offensive nature a week ago. One particular photograph profiles the ethnic makeup of a student wearing a sombrero, with a comment that reads, "This is an African American Mexican #HappyHolloween." Another incorporates stereotypical slang in the caption of a picture of a Black student sitting at a lunch table, reading, “When all the kids and staff are questioning your lipstick as you flash the ‘B****, I’m cute AF’ face.'”
In the comments section of one of Forostiak's posts, she laughs her choice to post the content off and suggests that her characterization of the students is ok because they think they're grown. Her defense was in response to a follower who questioned the appropriateness of her labeling one of the photos: “Field day with my little a***holes that I somehow still love #5thGradeSwag.”
Baltimore County Schools Spokesman Mychael Dickerson apologized before the press on Forostiak's behalf, saying that she regretted her choice of words. While Dickerson said that she would face disciplinary action, he confirmed that she had not been relieved of her job at the school. It is unclear what infractions she may face.
