Update
Beanie Sigel's family has asked the hospital where he's being treated not to release any information about his condition, but NBC Philadelphia has provided an update to the original story.
Beans was coming home after dropping his kids off at school when he witnessed a fight taking place near his home. It's unclear whether he attempted to break it up, however his attorney says it doesn't appear that the rapper was the intended target of the shooter.
The other man injured during the altercation has been identified as 22-year-old Umar Salahuddi. He was not shot and has not been uncooperative with detectives investigating the crime.
Police have not yet been able to speak with Beanie. He's now listed in critical condition.
"The whole thing is a tragedy," a cousin of Sigel's wife said. She refused to give her name. "It's just very sad and I just ask that everybody keep our family in prayer and that he pulls through."
