RadioOnFire.com - Six children died and a mother and three children remain hospitalized following a northeast Baltimore house fire early Thursday. A family friend has established a crowdfunding page to support the family and their recovery.
Fire officials say there's no known cause yet. The father, who hadn't yet gotten home from work when the fire began, told investigators the home had smoke detectors. The body of of all but one child had been recovered as of Thursday afternoon.
An 8-year-old giel brought out two brothers aged 4 and 5. The younger siblings remain hospitalized. The 8-year-old has since been released.
"We have had a collapse of the unit itself, the third floor and second floor have collapsed," Baltimore City Fire Chief Roman Clark said.
A relative set up a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for expenses. As of 3 p.m. Thursday, the initiative had raised nearly $30,000.
