A Tribe Called Quest Gets Their 1st No.1 Album in 20 Years

RadioOnFire.com - A Tribe Called Quest’s latest album, “We Got it from Here…Thank You 4 Your service,” debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
It is the group’s first album since 1998’s, “The Love Movement,” and their first No.1 since their 1996 platinum project, “Beats, Rhymes and Life.” The new album will be the group’s last and pays homage to deceased member Phife Dawg who passed in March. A Tribe Called Quest took a long hiatus back in 1998. Together, the group did some performances together including opening for Kanye West on his “Yeezus” tour in 2013/2014.
They suffered from inner turmoil and weren’t able to come together for an official follow-up to “The Love Movement.” Their infighting is highlighted in the 2011 documentary “Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest” which was directed by actor Michael Rapaport. Despite the problems, it seems that Tribe was able to record a lot of songs over the years which were used for their latest album. The remaining members promoted the project on a recent Saturday Night Live episode which was hosted by Dave Chappelle. They also graced the cover of Complex’s Oct./Nov 2016 issue. The album features guest appearances from Talib Kweli, Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes, Consequence and Elton John.
