San Francisco 49ers Star LB Aldon Smith Arrested After Bomb Threat At L.A. Airport. Facing Possible Federal Charges [Video]

Aldon Smith is one of the most talented players in the NFL, but at the rate of trouble he's getting into with the law, the San Francisco 49ers linebacker may throw it all away.
Smith was arrested and booked for investigation of making a false bomb threat in the middle of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Sunday, April 13.
According to the Associated Press, Smith became belligerent while going through secondary security screening and threatened that he had a bomb.

During his arrest, Smith reportedly resisted and became uncooperative. FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said anyone making a bomb threat at an airport could be charged with a federal crime. If that happens he could face a year in prison.
"We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. "As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment."

In September 2013, Smith crashed his truck in San Francisco. He was charged with driving under the influence and drug possession.
The all-pro player took five games off last season to deal with a substance abuse problem. He rejoined the team on November 5, and finished the season with 8.5 sacks.
