Legendary comedienne Joan Rivers has passed away at the age of 81.
Rivers was having throat surgery at Yorkville Endoscopy on August 28, when she stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest. She was rushed to New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital, where she fell into a coma.
On Thursday, September 4, her daughter Melissa Rivers made the decision to take her mom off of life support.
The New York State Department of Health has launched an investigation into Yorkville Endoscopy to find out what happened during what was supposed to be routine surgery.
“The state department of health is investigating the matter,” a Department of Health official told Fox News. “It’s a full investigation of the matter… Since it’s an ongoing investigation I can’t comment on what we’re looking at.”
