Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake released from hospital

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was discharged from the University of Maryland Medical Center Sunday after a brief stay due to chest pains and shortness of breath.

The mayor's office said Rawlings-Blake was taken by ambulance to the hospital after attending the Star-Spangled Spectacular festivities Saturday night.
She was kept at the hospital overnight as a precaution. Doctors performed a series of tests to assess her medical condition. Rawlings-Blake was discharged Sunday afternoon and is now resting at home with her family by her side.

The mayor's office will provide updates regarding when the mayor will resume her public schedule.
In response to her hospitalization, the mayor issued the following statement:
"I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes during my hospital stay, as well as commend the University of Maryland Medical Center staff for their outstanding care,” Rawlings-Blake said. “For the past several days, I had been struggling with a case of bronchitis and an upper respiratory infection. I pushed myself a bit too hard, given all the excitement around Star Spangled Spectacular and the tremendous opportunity the festivities presented to showcase the very best of Baltimore.
After it became more difficult to catch my breath, I requested to go to the hospital for medical care. I am now home and resting comfortably. I look forward to resuming my regular schedule and serving this great city as soon as possible."
