David Stern Admits NBA Player Other Than Magic Contracted HIV in His Career

RadioOnFire.com - Nov. 7 was the 25th anniversary of Magic Johnson announcing he was HIV positive and subsequently retiring from the NBA.  During his famous press conference, Johnson addressed leaving the Lakers as then NBA commissioner David Stern sat at his side.
Stern served as the NBA commissioner from 1984-2014 and said this wasn't his only experience of finding out a player tested positive for HIV.
Stern said he knew of one other NBA player to contract HIV during his tenure as commissioner, but that the diagnosis came after the player’s career ended, was not made public, and that the player has since died.
If another player tested positive for HIV, Stern said, the public might not even know about it
“There’s not necessarily a reason to announce,” he said, “and if you asked me do I think that amongst all of the professional athletes in the country or the world, whether there are other HIV positive athletes, I think there probably are.”
Johnson announced his status at a time when the stigma against HIV was much worse than it is today.  Many people thought it was a disease that only affected the gay community, and there were still questions about its transmission.  Johnson became the face of HIV, spreading knowledge and showing that it could be fought. The progress made also enables players to keep their medical issues private if he so chose.

Baltimore Ravens Looks To Keep Momentum Building Against Cleveland

For a second time in a matter of days, the Baltimore Ravens will be playing in front of their home crowd at M&T Bank Stadium.
The reasoning: A Thursday night kickoff against the Cleveland Browns -- Baltimore's second-straight AFC North opponent.
The turnaround might be quick but the Ravens (4-4) are rearing to go. Especially after their 21-14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon.
Offense, defense and special teams highlighted Baltimore's Week 9 victory. That will continue.
The Browns (0-9), who are looking for their first win of the season, have struggled defensively, giving up more than 31 points the past three weeks. On top of that, they rank 31st in total yards allowed (421.7 per game) and rushing yards allowed (146.4 per game).
Joe Flacco and Co. shouldn't have any issues if the Ravens play to their potential. Mike Wallace has been a major contributor, as of late, and has positioned himself as a true deep threat. The resurgence of Steve Smith Sr. adds another offensive weapon.
The rushing attack was non-existent for a second-straight week but Baltimore hopes for a breakout game against the Browns.
Cody Kessler, a rookie out of the University of Southern California, will get the start for Cleveland. If the Ravens play with the hard-nosed mentality they did against Pittsburgh, it could be a long game.
Though, the Browns should never be counted out. They're a team that has as much fire.

Amber Rose Lets Her Son Paint His Nails, Says F**k Gender Roles

RadioOnFire.com - What Amber Rose thought would be a cute video of her and three-year-old son Sebastian at a nail salon has turned into an Instagram page full of hateful comments.

Earlier Tuesday, Rose, 33, posted a video of her son, Bash, waiting for his turn to get a manicure and a pedicure. “Hey, pumpkin, are you excited to get a pedicure and manicure?” Rose can be heard asking her son. “It’s gonna be so cool,” Rose continued, then asking her son what color he wanted his nails painted. “Orange!” Bash replied.

Rose’s post, which has over 2,000 comments, is now full of hateful and homophobic replies. “He definitely gon’ be gay when he get older, sad but true,” wrote one user. “Man is this b---- crazy… If I had kids, I wish my [baby mother] would get my son nails painted, I’l [sic] be beating her a-- silly,” wrote another.

It seems like Rose may have been ready for some of the backlash she was going to receive because she wrote an inspiring message in the video’s caption. “We encourage our children to paint, draw and be creative so why block them from their creativity when it comes to self expression? F--- society standards and gender roles! Let your children be great.”
