NFL: Jets Brandon Marshall Cleared By Jury After Woman Claimed He Punched Her
RadioOnFire.com - Christin Myles claimed that Brandon Marshall punched her in the face outside of a NYC nightclub a few years ago but a jury didn’t agree with her. Marshall was never criminally charged in the incident which occurred at Marquee nightclub in 2012 but Myles wanted compensation for Marshall allegedly punching her during a brawl. After today, she won’t be seeing a dime as the jury decided against her.
Myles submitted security video which she claimed proved Marshall punched her but that same piece of evidence worked against her. The jury took less than an hour to dismiss her case. “The video was grainy,” said a male juror outside court, suggesting that there wasn’t enough visual evidence to pin the punch on Marshall.
Appearing stunned, Myles didn’t move for several minutes after the verdict and had to be consoled by her mother and her lawyer before finally getting up from her seat.
Her lawyer, Josh Moskovitz, tried to portray Marshall as a spoiled athlete who assumed that his fame was enough to elevate him above the law.
“He wants to play by his own rules,” Moskovitz said in pressing jurors to find him guilty of battering his client.
The lawyer repeatedly played footage of the alleged punch during his closing statement.
But Marshall’s lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, blasted the case as an opportunistic money grab targeting a rich and famous athlete.
“He never touched or punched her, and he wasn’t going to pay a penny because he knows he did nothing wrong,” he said after the flash verdict.
