Jon Jones Surrenders To Arrest Warrant, Facing Felony Charges

RadioOnFire.com - UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been released on bond after turning himself in to police Monday after a hit-and-run incident he was allegedly involved in a day earlier in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Online police records that included a mug shot but few other details indicated Jones was released.

The Albuquerque Police Department had reported Jones to be in custody via Twitter earlier Monday night, and the UFC acknowledged to ESPN that Jones was in custody and that the sanctioning body was “still in the process of gathering facts.”

Jones is facing a felony charge. Albuquerque police spokesman Tanner Tixier confirmed to ESPN.com that the 25-year-old pregnant woman driving the car Jones allegedly struck in southeastern Albuquerque suffered a broken arm.

Jones will be charged with leaving the scene of a crime, a felony charge that potentially carries jail time, according to Tixier. Prior to knowledge of the injury, Jones was facing a potential misdemeanor.

Jones (21-1) is scheduled to defend his 205-pound title against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas. The UFC has not announced a change on the card, and representatives for Johnson have told ESPN.com they have not been notified of a change in opponent.

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake Issues Curfew For Baltimore!

RadioOnFire.com - In the wake of the riots that followed the funeral of Freddie Gray, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced that the city will impose a mandatory curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily, effective for one week starting on Tuesday. She noted that the city already has a mandatory curfew for juveniles.

-- "What we see tonight that is going on in our city is very disturbing," said Rawlings-Blake. "Too many people have spent generations building up this city for it to be destroyed by thugs who in a very senseless way are trying to tear down what so many have fought for."



Chaos and violence erupted on the streets of Baltimore late Monday as protesters clashed with police, several of whom were injured.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard.

"This afternoon, a group of outrageous criminals attacked our officers. Right now, we have seven officers that have serious injuries, including broken bones, and one officer who is unconscious," Capt. Eric Kowalczyk told reporters.

He vowed to find the attackers and put them in jail.

Video showed police in riot gear taking cover behind an armored vehicle, as protesters pelted them with rocks.

At one point, it looked like officers used tear gas. The Baltimore Police Department said it had heard reports of protesters setting small items on fire, and footage showed a cruiser in flames.

Video also showed people looting local stores, and an area CVS Pharmacy was set on fire after it was ransacked. Thick dark smoke filled the streets.

Thousands Attend Baltimore Funeral For Freddie Gray

 

RadioOnFire.com - BALTIMORE – The six Baltimore police officers suspended after a man suffered serious spinal injuries while in custody should tell the public what happened, an attorney for the man's family said at his funeral Monday.

Bill Murphy's remarks about the officers drew a standing ovation at the funeral of Freddie Gray. Gray died April 19, days after his encounter with police. The 2,500-capacity New Shiloh Baptist church was filled with mourners, many of whom filed past Gray's casket before the service began.

"This is our moment to get at truth. This is our moment to get it right," Murphy said.

While the funeral was underway, police said in a news release that the department had received a "credible threat" that three notoriously violent gangs are now working together to "take out" law enforcement officers. Gray's death has heightened tensions between residents and the police, with weekend protests at times turning violent.

A small group of mourners started lining up about two hours ahead of Monday's funeral. As they began filing into the church, the white casket with Gray's body was opened, flanked by floral arrangements. A rope was placed in front of the casket to prevent people from getting too close. One person used a cellphone to take a photo of the body.


Placed atop Gray's body was a white pillow with a screened picture of him. A projector aimed at two screens on the walls showed the words "Black Lives Matter & All Lives Matter."

Gray's death has prompted near-daily demonstrations. Gray was arrested one week before he died when officers chased him through a West Baltimore neighborhood and dragged him into a police van.

Police said Gray was arrested after he made eye contact with officers and ran away. Officers held him down, handcuffed him and loaded him into the van. While inside, he became irate and leg cuffs were put on him, police have said.

Gray asked for medical help several times, beginning before he was placed in the van. After a 30-minute ride that included three stops, paramedics were called.

Authorities have not explained how or when Gray's spine was injured.

Police acknowledged Friday that Gray should have received medical attention on the spot where he was arrested -- before he was put inside a police transport van handcuffed and without a seat belt, a violation of the police department's policy.

Violence Erupts In West Baltimore Between Police & Vandals.

RadioOnFire.com - Police in West Baltimore have released tear gas to try to disperse crowds. 7 officers have been injured in the Mondawmin Mall area. Mondawmin Mall in northwest Baltimore closed early. Several news outlets have reported a large group of juveniles congregating in the vicinity of the mall shortly before 3 p.m. A large number of police officers are in the area.

It is being reported that youths are throwing rocks and other items.

A person inside the 7-Eleven store said that a group of young people came into the store from the side and began throwing balls in the store, damaging things in the store and breaking bottles in the store. Some also stole items and then ran away. That person said a police officer was in the store being treated for an injury on his left hand.

Several area business including CVS have been looted.

The Maryland Transit Administration said the Mondawmin Metro station is temporarily closed.

Some businesses and institutions in downtown Baltimore closed early Monday. Among them included the University of Maryland-Baltimore and T. Rowe Price's downtown offices, which closed at 2 p.m. "out of an abundance of caution."

UMB officials said the campus was closing early at the recommendation of Baltimore police.

In an alert to students and staff, the university says "the safety of our students and employees is of paramount importance. Please vacate the campus as soon as possible."

School spokesman Alex Likowski said he didn't know what type of activity might be passing through campus or what prompted the warning from police.

At the recommendation of Baltimore police, Baltimore City Community College officials said the school closed at 3 p.m.

Jack whom first introduced Bobbi Kristina and Nick admitted that he warned his brother to slow down with the drugs. He says their drug use made him very uncomfortable and because of it he started seeing them less often. He alleges that drugs have been a staple in Bobbi Kristina and Nick’s life for a while, long before Whitney passed.

When asked to recall his brothers side of what happened to Krissy he says,


“I mean, I knew how depressed [Bobbi Kristina] was, I knew [about her] drug use. I mean, all that mixed together with arguments is never, never good.”

Later in the interview, he’s asked if he thinks this was a suicide attempt and he said “personally I do”.

Lil Wayne's Tour Buses Shot At In Atlanta

RadioOnFire.com - A gunman or gunmen opened fire on Lil Wayne's 2 tour buses Sunday morning, April, 26.



TMZ reports that Weezy had just finished performing at the Compound in Atlanta when the incident occurred. The buses were pulling away from the venue around 3:30 a.m. when shots rang out.

Aboard one of the buses were Young Money artists Lil Twist and Hood, as well as label executives. It's unclear if Wayne was on board either bus or if one or both were hit by gunfire.





The crew waited until they got to their hotel before calling police. There were no reported injuries.

Freddie Gray Death: Baltimore Protesters Damage Cars & Stores; 12 Arrested

RadioOnFire.com - Protesters angry over the death of Freddie Gray got into physical altercations with police Saturday night in downtown Baltimore near the city's famed baseball stadium. Some of the hundreds who confronted lines of police officers got into shoving matches with helmeted cops while other demonstrators threw objects. At least five police cars were damaged by people who smashed windows and jumped on them.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said she was profoundly disappointed by the violence, adding that 95% of the protesters were respectful but a "small group of agitators intervened."

Fredericka Gray, the twin sister of Freddie Gray, made a statement: "My family wants to say, 'Can y'all please, please stop the violence? Freddie Gray would not want this.' Freddie's father and mother do not want any violence. Violence does not get justice."

Vandals broke and damaged storefront windows and trashed one 7-Eleven, police said. CNN crews observed a window damaged at a Michael Kors store and holes in one at a Subway restaurant.

The skirmishes followed a planned demonstration over how police handled the arrest of Gray, a 25-year-old Baltimore man who suffered a spinal injury at some point after he was detained by police on April 12. He died a week later.

The numbers of protesters dissipated substantially just before sunset, though some people were still walking in the streets near Oriole Park at Camden Yards, causing some traffic problems.

Earlier, demonstrators had marched through the streets until they arrived at City Hall. Along the way, whenever it appeared the protest might get out of control, organizers reined the marchers back in.

The event ended after speeches at Baltimore City Hall on Saturday evening, but many protesters continued to vent their anger by marching down to Inner Harbor.

Protesters Vow to ‘Shut Down’ Baltimore After New Disclosures About Freddie Gray’s Death

(BALTIMORE)—Protesters who’ve been holding demonstrations almost daily this week over the death of Freddie Gray are promising their biggest march yet a day after the Baltimore Police Department acknowledged that it failed to get him the medical attention he needed after his arrest. 

Protesters vowed to “shut down” the city by marching through the streets and snarling traffic. The president of a black lawyers’ group predicted thousands of people would turn out for the demonstration, when good weather is forecast and the Baltimore Orioles host the Boston Red Sox.

“Things will change on Saturday, and the struggle will be amplified,” said Malik Shabazz of Black Lawyers for Justice. “It cannot be business as usual with that man’s spine broken, with his back broken, with no justice on the scene.”

Shabazz has demanded the arrest of six officers involved in the arrest of Gray, who died Sunday a week after suffering a spinal injury while in police custody.

The officers are suspended with pay and under criminal investigation by their own department. The U.S. Justice Department is reviewing the case for any civil rights violations, and Gray’s family is conducting their own probe.

Apparently, karma is a dish best served cold as these ladies face one of their biggest and first controversies since the show first began, in July. Although the cast dynamic consists of multiple nationalities, somehow racial ignorance has slipped through the cracks.

Since the encounter has hit airwaves, The Real has been ripped to shreds by the Council on American Islamic Relation’s Los Angeles office for alleged “discrimination against Muslim women”. The two women who were asked to get “out of camera view during taping” and were then told they could not sit in the first row. Due to the nature of the encounter, the statement implies that they were refused a floor seat to the show because of their appearance and potential visibility throughout the segment. The council says the women were told they could not sit in the front row “in accordance with studio policy.” ….whatever that means Warner Bros! What could be realer than a melting pot of women in the audience of all nationalities, not just the ones they wanted people to see.

Kanye West Scrubs All Mentions Of Jay Z's Tidal From His Twitter As Company Begins Downward Spiral

The two sides are still not in agreement and that’s why the contract hasn’t been signed and the fight is less than two weeks away!


Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com on Tuesday that he wasn’t signing the contract that he received a draft of on April 15 because it wasn’t what he agreed to when the MGM, Mayweather Promotions and he signed the term sheet a couple months ago.

“We agreed that we would all be signatories on the final contract and then they sent us a draft of the agreement and it excluded us,” said Arum, who promotes Pacquiao. Not being a signatory to the contract means that Top Rank wouldn’t have control of decisions during the fight, including in-arena production, video content and music.

“They don’t want us to have any say,” Arum said. “So whether they came up with the deal between Mayweather and MGM before or after our agreement, they’ve committed fraud either way. That’s what we’re enmeshed in.”

Without a signed agreement, a single ticket still has not been printed and tickets to the closed circuit viewing of the fight at MGM Hotels also have not gone on sale.

6 Baltimore Police Officers Suspended in Freddie Gray Case

RadioOnFire.com - BALTIMORE —Baltimore police have suspended six officers after the death of a man who was injured while in police custody. Freddie Gray, 25, was critically injured after his arrest April 12. He died early Sunday morning at Shock Trauma. According to the family's lawyer, Gray suffered a severe spinal cord injury.

"Our community is experiencing a great deal of trauma," Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said during a news conference Monday afternoon. "This is a tense time for Baltimore. I'm angry that we are here again, that we have to tell another mother that her child is dead."


Baltimore police identified the officers involved as follows:

- Lt. Brian Rice, 41, has been a member of the Baltimore Police Department since 1997

- Sgt. Alicia White, 30, has been a member of the Baltimore Police Department since 2010

- Police Officer William Porter, 25, has been a member of the Baltimore Police Department since 2012

- Police Officer Garrett Miller, 26, has been a member of the Baltimore Police Department since 2012

- Police Officer Edward Nero, 29, has been a member of the Baltimore Police Department since 2012

- Police Officer Caesar Goodson, 45, has been a member of the Baltimore Police Department since 1999

Why did officers pursue Gray?

According to a police charging document, officers arrested Gray on a west Baltimore street because he "fled unprovoked upon noting police presence in the neighborhood."

Phoenix Suns' Morris twins indicted in alleged beating

RadioOnFire.com - PHOENIX (AP) -- A Maricopa County grand jury has indicted the Phoenix Suns' Marcus and Markieff Morris on felony aggravated assault charges for allegedly beating a man outside a city recreation center in January.


According to a Phoenix police report, Erik Hood said five people including the Morris brothers repeatedly punched and kicked him.

Police say it is alleged that Hood, 36, was assaulted for sending an inappropriate text message to the Morris brothers' mother.

The names of the other three men are redacted in court documents released Tuesday.

The 6-foot-9 twins became teammates in 2013 when Marcus was traded to the Suns. Their first court appearance is set for May 7. 

''We have been advised by our attorneys not to discuss this case or make any statements about it. We are sorry for the distraction this has caused to our fans and the Suns,'' Marcus and Markieff Morris said in a statement released through the team Tuesday.

President of basketball operations Lon Babby said the Suns were ''disappointed to learn that Marcus and Markieff Morris have been charged.

''This is a serious matter and we will treat it as such,'' Babby said. ''However, at this time, we think it is most appropriate to continue to monitor the legal process as it unfolds before responding further.''

According to the police report, Hood was leaving a high school basketball game on Jan. 24 when he was approached by a friend of the brothers.

Hood told police the man was speaking to him when he was punched in the back of the head.

Hood ran to his car but fell down. Hood told police that the man who had approached him held him down while four men, including the Morris twins, kicked and hit him repeatedly, according to the police report. All five then left the area in a Rolls-Royce Phantom as bystanders began to appear.

A friend of Hood's drove him to a hospital where he was treated for a fractured nose, abrasions and a large lump on his head.

Jameis Winston's Rape Accuser Erica Kinsman Sues Him 2 Weeks Before 2015 NFL Draft

(CNN) Erica Kinsman, a former Florida State University student who has accused star football player Jameis Winston of rape, has filed a lawsuit against the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, her lawyer said Thursday.

Kinsman has said Winston raped her in December 2012. A prosecutor decided against bringing criminal charges in the case.



In the lawsuit filed Thursday, Kinsman alleges sexual battery, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.



CNN has attempted to contact Winston's attorney for comment but has not received a reply yet.

Winston has said the sex was consensual.



CNN doesn't normally identify the alleged victims of sexual assault; however, Kinsman revealed her name this year in a documentary about rapes on college campuses.

Winston led the Florida State Seminoles to a national championship for the 2013 season. That year he won the Heisman Trophy, given to the most outstanding collegiate football player. He is expected to be a top pick in the NFL draft that begins April 30.

Nelly Arrested In Tennessee For Possession Of Meth, Weed & Drug Paraphernalia *UPDATE* Nelly Denies Drugs Were His (Video/Mug Shot)

RadioOnFire.com - Nelly and a member of his entourage were arrested in Putnam County, Tennessee on Saturday, April 11, on various drug and gun charges.



WSMZ reports that the rapper's tour bus was pulled over by two state troopers for failure to display a U.S Department of Transportation sticker and an International Fuel Tax Association sticker. The troopers boarded the bus after smelling weed.

During a search they found a gold-plated .50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a .45-caliber Tarus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson.



Also discovered were a small amount of marijuana, five rocks of methamphetamine and 100 Ziploc bags, sometimes associated with selling drugs.

The 40-year old rapper, real name Cornell Haynes, was arrested for charged with felony possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nelly is denying the drugs found on his bus belonged to him. He claims that 15-20 people had access to the bus and it had multiple people on board at the time of the stop.



TMZ reports that Nelly's lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, denies meth was found.



"A small quantity of [MDMA/Ecstasy] was discovered," Rosenblum said. "Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered."

According to reports shots that rang out in the U.S. Capitol was the result of a suicide. Being that the incident occurred upfront of the building, Capitol police took proper measures to get all the occupants within to safety, even long after it was reported that the shots were due to self-inflicted wounds of the shooter.

CNN reports…

“The building was locked down as a precaution after shots were fired on the west front of the building, Schneider said. The lockdown continued even after the incident was described as a suicide.

U.S. Capitol Police officers also were investigating a suspicious package on the lower west terrace of the Capitol, Schneider said.

Capitol police sent this message to congressional staff: “The U.S. Capitol Police are continuing to investigate the police activity. All occupants of the U.S. Capitol Building and Capitol Visitor Center are directed to shelter in place until further notice. Additional information will be provided as available.”

No one was allowed to enter or exit the Capitol building or the Capitol Visitors Center during the lockdown.

Several streets in the area were closed.”

In the book, Henson, 44, will write about her rough childhood growing up in a Washington, DC neighborhood as well as being a single parent and her film and TV roles. Henson has appeared in the films “Baby Boy,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Hustle & Flow” and she was nominated for an Emmy for the TV movie “Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story.” The actress will also be hosting “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

‘Furious 7′ Racing to Huge $140 Million Opening Weekend

RadioOnFire.com - Universal’s “Furious 7″ is speeding toward a record-setting opening weekend of nearly $140 million at 4,004 U.S. locations, according to revised Friday estimates.

“Furious 7″ blasted off with $58 million to $60 million on Friday — including $15.8 million in 3,069 Thursday-night showings that started at 7 p.m. in the U.S.

Recent estimates had placed the Friday-Sunday number at $115 million, which were revised upward early Friday to as much as $125 million. But Friday’s afternoon numbers — based on West Coast matinees and East Coast early evening screenings — indicated that the Easter weekend would finish between $135 million and $138 million.

The film, starring Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker, will easily set a record for an April opening weekend should the estimates hold. The current April record holder, Marvel-Disney’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” opened with $95 million on the same weekend last year.

All signals now suggest that the “Furious 7″ opening will easily exceed that of “Fast and Furious 6,″ which grossed $97 million in its domestic debut weekend two years ago on its way to $238 million. It will also become the 29th movie with a $100 million-plus opening weekend in the U.S. and the first to do so since “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1″ opened in November with $122 million.

Did Not See This Coming: AJ Lee Retires from WWE!

After nearly four years on WWE's main roster, it was announced Friday that Diva AJ Lee has decided to retire from professional wrestling.

WWE's Twitter account released the official announcement:


The 28-year-old Union City, New Jersey, native leaves the company as a three-time Divas champion and one of WWE's most successful female wrestlers in recent memory.

AJ teamed with Paige to defeat Nikki and Brie Bella on Sunday at WrestleMania 31, and it turns out that it will stand as the final big match of her WWE career.

In addition to her in-ring exploits, AJ is the wife of former WWE Superstar and current UFC fighter CM Punk. It is no secret that Punk and WWE have been embroiled in a feud since he left the promotion in 2014 following the Royal Rumble.

This is a huge loss to the WWE Divas division and pro wrestling as a whole. I am sure it is difficult for her to work there with all that has been going on between her husband and the WWE. Best of luck to AJ.

Tiger Woods Announces He Will Play In The 2015 Masters

"I'm playing in the Masters. It's obviously very important to me, and I want to be there.

"I've worked a lot on my game and I'm looking forward to competing. I'm excited to get to Augusta and I appreciate everyone's support."

After withdrawing from the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines due to a back injury, the 39-year-old star made the decision to temporarily step away from competition. In a statement on his website, Woods cited a need to round his game back into form.

"Right now, I need a lot of work on my game, and to still spend time with the people that are important to me," Tiger wrote. "My play, and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf. Like I've said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I'm ready, I'll be back."
